Real-life IT Projects I have worked on.
- Deploy New Desktops to Office
In 2002, I was part of a large upgrade project for the bank I worked at. In this project, we were upgrading all of the desktop computers for CSR, bookkeeping, and tellers to utilize ethernet rather than BNC connectivity. Prior to this, all employees of the bank utilized dummy terminals that were on a shared server utilizing IBM's AS/400 platform. Upon completion of the project, all bank employees were given new pentium 3 266mhz desktop computers that had access to both intra- and internet, with the added capability of localized hard-disk storage.
- Upgrade Firewall for a Bank
In 2002, myself and the other IT technician assisted in procuring and upgrading the rack mounted firewall for the bank's ethernet and network system. The firewall was designed to protect sensitive information such as bank transactions, loan processing requests, and block unsavory websites from being viewed. Being the junior member of the IT team, it was my task to create a safe-site list in the protocols for the firewall.
- Migrating Email System from a web-based host to Microsoft Office
In 2023, the company I work for realized we had outgrown our antiquated web-based email system and decided to migrate to Microsoft Office. As the lead on this project, I helped procure pricing, gather up email addresses and passwords for the migration, and created a presentation for the owners of my company to review for cost analysis. The timeframe for this project took approximately 8 days.
